Welcome to the after-school Art For Kids School program. We are so happy that you are choosing to support your child's creative exploration and we look forward to working with your child.

When registering your child in the Art For Kids School program, your online registration form indicates your agreement with our AFKS policies as follows:

Payment Policy

Registration Fee - A $5 registration fee will be added to each registration. If registering more than one child, this single registration fee will cover multiple students. The registration fee will increase to $10 for registrations received after the registration deadline (late registrations).

  • Remaining installment payments are due on or before October 1 and November 1, and may be given to the instructor or mailed to Art For Kid School, 10310 Myra Ln. SE, Olympia, WA 98501.
  • Late Fee - If tuition has not been received by the tenth each month, a $10 late fee will be charged.
  • Tuition is not prorated as a result of missed classes. If your child misses class due to illness, you may arrange a make-up class. If you need to do so, please call Dolly Meymand at (360) 357-5301 or Keyan Meymand at (206) 774-9970.
  • Unpaid Tuition will be turned over to a collection agency after sixty (60) days. After this point an additional 3% per month fee shall be assessed.
  • Returned Checks will be assessed a $20 fee. If we have received a return check, we will only accept payment via money order or card.

Attendance Policy

You agree that your child will attend all of the Art For Kids School classes for which you are enrolling your child.

  • If you choose to withdraw your child from the program before the end date, you agree to pay one-half of the tuition for the remaining semester.

Our purpose in requiring an attendance commitment is based in our observation that, while all children benefit by being exposed to art, we prefer teaching children who love art and are dedicated to putting in the time required to achieve skills. The children support each other as a group. This is disrupted if children cannot make the commitment to the full course of lessons. It has been our experience that a child cannot fully develop an opinion about whether they like certain materials and media unless they have repeated exposure to those materials, and practice in their use.

Finally, it is an excellent way to teach the value of commitment and dedication. Art, like ballet or music, is a discipline, and achieving excellence requires time and practice.

Additional Information

Class Schedule Changes - It is the parent's responsibility to obtain information about class changes by visiting our Class Information & Schedule Changes page.

Inclement Weather - If more than one class is cancelled due to inclement weather, these will be made up and you will receive notification of the make-up dates.

The Classroom Environment - Students are expected to maintain a respectful and reasonably quiet working atmosphere within the classroom. Parents will be contacted if there is an ongoing disruptive pattern involving a student. So that students may focus and due to classroom size limitations, parents are asked not to remain in the classroom while in session.

Arrival & Pick Up - Late arrivals cause distraction. Students should arrive at the class room a few minutes before the scheduled start time in order to make full use of the class time available. Likewise punctuality when picking up your child is also important. AFKS is not responsible for child supervision outside of class time. If a student is picked up more than 20 minutes after class, an addition $1 per minute will be added to compensate instructors.

Preparing Your Child For Class

  • Please send your child with a large shirt that can be kept at school to protect their clothing.
  • Please send your child with a snack.
  • For the younger children, please send a note with them to give to their regular teachers for the first few days to ensure they attend AFKS classes.

Thank you for supporting your child’s creative exploration. Art improves the way your child perceives her/himself and the world!
